My dad, John Locke, moved our family from Portland, OR in 1957, to accept a position as Chief Engineer at Van de Kamp's Holland-Dutch Bakery. We lived for a few months at a motel along Riverside Drive (near the Mulholland Fountain) while we waited for our house to close (in the Rossmoyne neighborhood).
